Are macbook 7.2 SSD Replaceable?

Question to Mac fans, converted to Maclinux  (mac is good, but whitout macOS
To your knowledge is it possible to replace the pci-express SSD drive in a 2017 MacBook Air 7.2 with a third-party brand?

I’m worried, because chatgpt tells me mac might have proprietary formats and it’s soldered…

EDit… 2018 when soldered on

As @Shjim said you can but it requires an adapter for the new drive. Here is an example video to show you how.

Edit: Since 2018 they are now all soldered.

Wow, thank you, that sounds like a hell of an idea, to give my setup one hell of a boost for a few more years.

For a hundred euros, I’d go from 120 GB to 1 TB, read/write speed times 6…

When you see the minimalist configurations of entry-level Macs, it’s worth it.

You have to have the special screw driver to remove the screws. But other than that it looks very simple to add with the adapter.

in fact,

I’ve already got it  had to change the graphic tablecloth in the past

the what ?

this part …

nifty looking tablecloth
