That’s what it looked like to me too. A condescending way to make a joke. Like the only way to talk about an installer is inside a joke and for good measure use a joke of an installer too. But then it wasn’t really clear if it is real or it’s a joke. If it’s a joke it’s a bad one. If it’s real, it pro’lly just needs more work. ---

I downloaded the ISO and that’s what runs. Hopefully it’s not permanent. ☹ ---

The fact that it has these faults, points to it being a joke. Just a stupid example, Arch was behind with the Thunderbird version for a long time, all that time it was in the testing repo because it had some bugs, while other distros, snaps and flatpak were already shipping it. So why should they release such a half-baked installer? This is just my two cents and if I’m wrong I’ll eat my ThinkPad ( the old one, then 😃) ---

Next thing they add `-Sa` flag for pacman that will just install all the packages. Why waste time with chosing. 🤣 ---

From what I can see, they released it on april 1st as a joke, but looking at some threads on r/archlinux, seems to have been planned months ago. Honestly, joke or not, I love it. I gave it a shot, it’s fast and works nicely. also it’s appealing to just write a python script importing some module and have it take care of all the menial work for you; I did that in a VM and had a working system up with all the apps I need in \<20min, bottlenecked by internet connection only! (i didn’t actually try the guided thing, no idea how that is) ---

Okay, perhaps it isn’t a joke, so what does it mean that you have to mention you’ve used the installer on the forum with logs? Less support or is it a psychological case study to change the harsh image the community has? ---

Personally, I find this to be hilarious. If it was intended as a joke, it’s so deep on multiple levels, it’s actually genius. If it wasn’t intended as a joke, that makes it even funnier. 🤣 For the foreseeable future, I’ll stick to installing Arch either the Arch WayTM or, even better, just install EndeavourOS. Both of them just work. ---

I’m assuming you can use this same ISO and install Arch the normal way too? They have just included this script installation by running archinstall …correct? ---

I watched the video and I don’t like that they included konqueror. To remove it probably you have to remove the meta package. 😞 ---

That is more or less _all_ the KDE applications. Nearly 300 packages. Keep in mind, that isn’t including the packages for plasma itself. That is just the applications. 😱 That being said, it is an April 1 joke so I went get overly worked up about it. ---

Just type `man:$manpage` in the address field, where $manpage has to be substituted with the actual name of the man page you want to read. 😉 ---

Me too. I’m not using Konqueror as a web browser at all. I just use it for the purposes described above (dealing with man pages). ---
