Arch/Endeavour OS - Is it ACTUALLY unstable? A one year review!

yeah that happened to me also once or twice in the last years. a reboot fixed the issue (google told me it is safe to reboot), it was a sweaty thing though (acting based on the written experience of someone on the internet, rebooting without knowing for sure if able to login afterwards).

… although I’m clutching at the Arch connection… as this machine is running Manjaro w/ Plasma… which has broken a couple of times along the way, but always been fixable thanks to the various forums. EOS will probably make its way onto this machine someday soon :tm: …

Does Antergos also count in these statistics? I converted an Antergos installation to EOS in October 2020. And I installed Antergos Linux itself in 2018.

I think all statistics are valuable in the eye of the beholder  Personally, I would count it

I came to EndeavourOS by accident (not sure I remember how!) - but I was about to try Antergos when I saw it was coming to an end. From what I can tell - this is better!

If I hadn’t encountered Antergos Linux and then EOS, I wouldn’t have thought of trying an Arch Linux-based distribution because I found it invisibly too complicated to use, just like a Gentoo.

Ahhh. I tend to rank them like this:

LF Scratch - you have to already know
Gentoo - you mostly have to know - but there is help
Arch - you have to learn
EnOS - you have to learn, but you have help and can be slower at it!

I call her compoota.

May I not neglect or throw her away like so many that have come before. May I watch her swoon off with a charming mate on her sweet sixteenth

Is that a ā€œcharming MATEā€ by any chance? Or is the DE irrelevant…
:duck:

Why not, if we all know the original source to be clear about it.
Some have already added their Antergos or Arch installs (and maybe others too) here.

congratulations. may she grow big and fill your drives with riches and happiness

All DE’s are welcome to swoon.

De bon augure!!

Do itttttt…!

Sure. Works for me. I’m not acutally keeping track anywhere if that’s what you’re wondering. This isn’t a graded assignment. I mean, technically mine isn’t even an Endeavour install. . .

So I succeeded in an Arch Linux install. The last one I tried was two or three years ago and I wasn’t happy after all. But now I have to admit that I understood a lot more of what is happening and why after all the time here at EndeavourOS. The Arch install is parallel to my EnOS daily driver, so let’s see if there is a difference after some time.

The only difference I find with mine is that I find I miss the EndeavourOS goodies - to the point where I often add in the EnOS repo! There’s more in there than most seem to realize…

My personal experience is always , progression

when you know something what you need, you can at te end buy hardware for your need… in most cases of mine does not need much
