Apps take time to start

I’ve been using endeavouros for about 2 months with no problems. I’m on LTS, with nvidia legacy drivers, and on an SSD.
Until recently, I had no problems, but now, some apps take a really long time to start. The strange thing is, chromium starts up in an instant and firefox takes about a minute. VSCode, Spotify, XFCE Terminal, etc. Start up instantly, but things like bottles, archive manager, etc. take a long time.
Apps on the fresh install started up instantly too.
How do I fix this?

Can you think of any factor that might differentiate the slow vs fast loading apps? Maybe you installed some of them using flatpak/snap? Also, try running them from the terminal and see if there are any error messages.

Hello there. Thanks for the quick reply.
No, I’ve installed all packages with pacman/yay.
But I installed Siril with flatpak and it takes time too.
I’ll try running them in terminal and post the output here soon.

See if it is the same thing causing the issue as in this thread:

Same problem here, but only with Tunderbird (yay) :

  • 15 sec to open an enail
  • 30 sec to display another week in the agenda
  • 15 sec to show parameters

Happens from about 1 week : no other app presents this problem.

I installed Geary (Flatpak) and the navigation between mails (2 accounts) is very fluent.

I don’t have xdg-desktop-portal-gnome installed. DE is xfce.

Tysm!
I can’t believe it was that simple!
I uninstalled xdg-desktop-portal-gnome and all apps start up almost instantly!
Cheers.
