I switched from Spotify to Apple Music some weeks ago. There are working apps for Apple Music on iOS, macOS and Windows. But there is no official app on Linux.
There is an unofficial app called Cider.
I payed for it on Windows, when there wasn’t the official app from Apple and I payed again on Linux. Cider works, but it could be much better. The performance is often bad. There are bugs and it’s sometimes hard to work with the app. Also there is no support for lossless audio.
Also, I tried Apple Music in Firefox and Vivaldi. It’s good to just here your music, but it lacks the functions for organizing playlists and your complete music, e.g you are not able to change the order of your songs in your playlists. Or you are not able to mark more than one track and move or delete them. You have to do one by one.
Today I made a big mistake in the iOS app. I wanted to move my favorite songs to the top of the list of my playlists. But I didn’t move it, I copied all of my favorite songs into another playlist … More than 5.000 songs were copied and I couldn’t stop it. There was no warning before copying. Only a message popped up where I was asked if I want to have duplicates in the playlist or if i want to skip them. So I had to delete more than 5.000 songs from that specific playlist.
Cider was not able to show all the songs. It took ages to get nearly half of the songs visible in that playlist.
In the iOS app all songs were visible but I had to delete one song after the other from that playlist.
Firefox and Vivaldi had the same issue.
So, I remembered on the Windows app. The official Windows app was able to sort all songs in that playlist and I was able to mark all 5.000 songs and deleted them with one click. Good that my wife is still using a Laptop with Windows 11 installed.
