Anyone know how to get python2-sphinx to work?

Greetings fellow Humans, human fellas.

I’m trying to install Howdy, a window Hello like face recognition software.

The official AUR package howdy is available. It requires python2-sphinx package. However, said package is not available anywhere in the AUR. I can’t find it by searching for it, clicking it in the dependency page, etc.

Anyone know if the package is installable?

As in pam-python, there doesn’t seem to be a need of any Python 2 components, e.g. python2-sphinx. I replaced python2-sphinx with python-sphinx, built and installed the package. Then I configured it as described in the doc, it works as expected. Probably it’s time to remove all Python 2 things.

So, grab the packaging files (e.g. yay -G howdy), edit the PKGBUILD, and run makepkg .

Checking the AUR package page is a good habit to get into. The answer is not always there but it’s a good starting place.
