At the end of an update, it started happening to me immediately before the regular reboot notification
I screencapped it just now. As soon as I close it, the reboot one pops up in its place

Noticed that too. Though I just had too many shots of my new Apple Fireball. Yum!
Did you also have AUR or any other unofficial repo in your updates in your updates? Looks like the official repos were finished & waiting for non official repos to get finished. . So, you get notified that your reboot will take place after a while.
It started happening to me, too (in KDE).
did not see this yesterday.
just got home from work and have to work a while. maybe won’t update til tomorrow.
Interesting strong-arm message here…I mostly am a religious update-then-reboot person (once in the morning that is) so no skin off etc. It’s not a terrible thing to prioritize but still surprising
Happened to me also. 120 seconds is a long time!
Script that produces this notification is /usr/bin/eos-reboot-required3
The following should not be sent as a notification at all:
DoNotify "Waiting to notify about reboot..." "Waiting at most $REBOOT_MAX_TOTAL_WAIT seconds to notify about reboot."
Also, the following notification is too verbose and should be rewritten to exclude the first line:
local msg="The wait for 'Reboot recommended' notification was interrupted after $REBOOT_MAX_TOTAL_WAIT seconds."
msg+="\n$lockfile still exists, please do not reboot before making sure all related processes have finished."
DoNotify "NOTE: please wait until all related processes have finished!" "$msg"
Furthermore, if this above notification is sent, I don’t think it’s safe to send the final “Reboot recommended” notification at all, and a warning icon should be used for the notification instead of the system-reboot one.
That’s what I keep telling her but she doesn’t believe me ![]()
Yeah, I’m sure I’ve seen it for a couple of weeks now. The first time it made me snort-laugh!
A little fun for you guys! ![]()
But seriously, obviously it still needs some adjustment. Trying to fix it in the next release. ![]()

Because two minutes in heaven is better than one minute in heaven. --Flight of the Conchords
it still needs some adjustment.
I’d like an extra notification announcing the notification that tells me that we are waiting for a notification… and from there on it should be turtles all the way down. ![]()
Reboot notifications are like instructions on a shampoo bottle. ![]()
My second notebook showed it as well today after updating.
Edit: Primary notebook has it too after updates today
I got the “waiting to notify of reboot up to 120 seconds” notification after I got the notification to reboot.
middle of update: “waiting to notify yadda yadda yadda”
before update is finished: “Reboot Recommended”
1st time ever for me that I got “Reboot Recommended” before the update is finished. Usually right after. Observation.
