Any suggestions for a PDF reader?

Or too busy disagreeing with posts that make a completely different point that what you’ve understood. :frog:

1° Re scrolling: I use a mouse with unlockable scroll wheel and it’s the greatest thing ever for scrolling, whether in Okular or anything else. (G502) I have the wheel unlocked for work, locked for games.

2° Re grievances with Okular: mine is that going back after scrolling is far too sensitive: if you scrolled 50 pages very fast, go need to go back 10 times before getting where you were before. It should only memorise the position if you stop for a few seconds. It has annoyed me for many years.

The point is that you should be able to scroll quickly without using such specialised hardware. It’s like replying to: “keyboard shortcuts are clumsy and inconvenient” with “use a macro keyboard, lmao”.

Don’t be mad at me for disagreeing with the frog.

You can disagree as much as you want, but it helps to be right when you do. :frog:

Set the power to aggressive:

Ok, for me in the German localization it is just called Agressive, shame on the translator of the GUI  .

That is why I prefer having all my computers in English (preferably, the British variant), even though I am Croatian (among countless other reasons).

That is at least one argument …

wps

The point is “scrolling sucks in general, not just in Okular, and for your information there exists this tools, which I for one found nullifies the suckiness in most circumstances”.

No, it doesn’t. E.g. the PDF viewer in Firefox scrolls through a document perfectly with mouse autoscroll enabled.

Of course, Firefox’s PDF viewer is crap in any other way, compared to Okular, but it gets this one thing right, which Okular fails at.

my go to pdf tools:

qpdfview for just viewing
pdf arranger for adding, removing or arranging pdfs
master pdf for editing (not open source)
okular for highlighting pdfs if ever needed

Zathura is good if you would like to try something minimal that works very well. I like the fact that it automatically saves my place but I’m sure most of the GUI readers can be setup that way as well.
