AMDGPU Power Cap

Until recently I’ve been increasing the power cap with my gpu using:

echo 247000000 > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon2/power1_cap

But today i got this in response:

zsh: no such file or directory: /sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon2/power1_cap

Did something change with a recent kernel?

ls /sys/class/drm/card0/device do not show hwmon entry anymore …

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AMDGPU#Overclocking

it still shows the example, and if i try it without them it tells me i don’t have permission
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AMDGPU#Overclocking

To set the allowed maximum power consumption of the GPU to e.g. 50 Watts, run

echo 50000000 > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon0/power1_cap

I do only want to underlay your thinking

is it a VEGA card?

Yes, it’s a vega 56

I do not run a Vega, but a lot users here may someone have a hint?
I can do some research by tomorrow.

This works, but i hope i can use the terminal again at some point in the future, as i don’t like depending on aur packages.

keep an eye on the archwiki page they will update this soon for sure!
