MSI has just released a new beta UEFI Bios update at least for my board for this major security issue that is 18 years old. Wasn’t aware of it until i saw the Bios update listed for my board. It was posted yesterday. I think I’ll wait till it’s finally out of beta.
Yea saw this for my ASRock Mobo too, is also in Beta and I had the same thought to wait until out of Beta.
Many times i have updated to the beta versions and then when they release the final i update again. Usually the final is given a new version number. Sometimes i do wait it out though.
Yea I prefer not to run a Beta BIOS if I can help it.
I find MSI pretty good with their updates. Usually I have no issues with their beta versions.
Was considering MSI for my MOBO when I got this latest one but I have had such good luck with ASRock Mobo’s I decided to stick with them.
I can fully understand that. Unfortunately, ASRock hardly offers anything other than a beta bios, at least for older boards. Here are two examples of the boards I have.
X570 Taichi (last stable was 5.60 from 2024/1/22)
B450 Gaming-ITX/ac (last stable was 5.20 from 2022/12/1)
I have installed the latest beta version on both boards and it runs without any problems on both systems.
If you got a very recent Mainboard I would wait also.
My boards are X570 B550 so they are starting to get dated. I think I’ve done 17 or more UEFI Bios updates on the x570. The B550 is still new awaiting another day. I’m sure it’s had many updates also since i got it.
Hello @ricklinux!
My X570 (it is over 5 years old) had pretty much all bios versions from the site and a few more that were later deleted after the stable version was out. With the B450 (under 4 Years but almost 5) I was on the last non-beta version for a long time but updated both motherboards on the same day as the latest beta bios came out (because of the vulnerability).
Luckily Zen 2 and up are getting the patch. At the beginning there was talk of Zen 2 not getting the update.
Yeah. I noticed that and I decided to delete it the post, as it was just plain wrong. I should read more about it instead of jumping to conclusions immediately.
First of all, I would like to apologize for replying to the post you deleted.
I know this from myself because I am often too hasty and often think about it too late.
No problem. I don’t mind.
