I’m about to get a fair bit more philosophical and cynical than I might usually tend to @whitewolfAK47
This sort of thing is our present reality:
Individuals have already given themselves over to their devices and what those devices feed them. Their social logistics, personal relationships, plans, wishes and desires, entertainment, faith, fears and source of knowledge, all given over to the devices. I say that knowing it’s not about the hardware device in their hand so much, as the connected systems those devices service.
No, the biggest impact on humanity will be the identity crisis
I’d have to agree it has enormous potential to exacerbate that present issue. I don’t think this is a new thing that came about because of “AI”, but certainly, it’s a leap further down that rabbit hole. Our devices offer us very little in the way of substance and meaning, and that’s being reflected culturally.
In this new reality, we will reflexively ask AI for advice before bothering to use our own brains.
They will also compile a historical record of your actions and reactions, enabling them to accurately predict your behaviors and emotions in almost every situation, anticipating your wants and needs before they even surface in your mind.
“Algorithms” have been doing this for some years already. “AI” is just a new means of accomplishing it. The danger I see with it, is the increasingly indistinguishable difference between what is truth and reality, and what is false.
People still, can choose to give themselves over to it. Or not.
