Forgive my lack of in-depth knowledge on EndeavouOs, but how do I do this procedure above?

This looks like a Gnome bug.
One similar report is found upstream.

I don’t think we can help with such a case… :person_shrugging:
You might want to try your luck with a good detailed bug report at Gnome gitlab.

Thanks for the statement!
I will follow and wait for more suggestions for solving this case.

Just one observation:
In another HD in the same desktop, I have Fedora 36 with gnome 42 installed with 42.0.1 pits with two VMs installed and this problem has not occurred or some similar.

You need to run the filesystem check on an unmounted filesystem. From a live usb or another Linux install (from your Fedora for example). Depending on the filesystem:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fsck

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Btrfs#btrfs_check

You might be able to use Gparted as well for running a check.

https://gparted.org/display-doc.php?name=help-manual#gparted-Check-partition

Please do some research on your own and in case of any doubts ask the forum.

If it is an upstream bug, I wonder how do you expect to solve it…
I received an update yesterday. Check if you got it and solves your issue.

gnome-boxes 42.0.1-2

Hi

It’s the same version I’m using. See in the image below:

Note: I was using Fedora 36 with updated Gnome 42 and I could verify that the boxes works well, “apparently” is normal, but some logs showed errors from qmeu. So I think this is the problematic guy. Even qmeu updates took place today with the release of the latest version of Fedora 36.

Hi @pebcak

Out of curiosity, I started to read the errors and saw that the boxes did not open for lack of such a “dmidecode” and I ended up installing it, finally it started to open and the crashes continued, but with one less error message. Finally, I tried to use virt-manager and there is also an error in virtqemu.

Have you changed any configuration regarding Boxes?
I have no issues running Boxes and I notice it is run in userspace, not as root, like the missing socket error suggests.
I am no expert on this, but I read Archwiki for any issues. Please, compare your setup with Archwiki qemu article and get some idea of where to look. For example, you should check proper permissions and groups.

There may have been an error installing some of your virtual machines, you can try to renamer or remove the libvirt folders .config/libvirt and .cache/libvirt, try to run boxes again after you have done this.

For example:

The box opened without errors, but I lost all the vms. I’ll create some and see how it goes. At the moment it is like this opening the box through the terminal:

I think you haven’t posted your system info, or I missed it.
Please show us your inxi -Faz

If this were a problem with Boxes, everyone would have this issue.
Since this is not happening, it may be related to system specific features, or user specific system configuration.

“Input/output errors” and “failure to find something” inside the logs might point to a file system disability.
You have an encrypted file system. I have no idea about encryption. If you do, do something to confirm there is no FS corruption, or start of.

My Boxes work fine. You know what I mean. :person_shrugging:
Only you know your system.
I think you have been abstracted by the coincidence of the latest update. Or not.
If you had system snapshots or backup, you could have better idea of the issue source.

Not meaning that these updates are related to or will resolve this issue. Just saying that lots of qemu* packages can be spotted in Testing.

Hello guys

YES!

I thank everyone for the information provided, but in the face of all this and, after checking the inxi -Faz, I had another direction.

I went to check the pc was with heating reaching 75 degrees. I cleaned the collers and changed the thermal paste and the temperature returned to 35 and 45 degrees. OK.

I downloaded the latest EOS ISO and reinstalled the entire Gnome 42 “system”. Installed everything from the EOS application and yay -S, without using pamac.

Even so, the error messages continue as follows:
Note: I think the problem is a hardware conflict with the latest Linux kernels by the standards of my machine, which is already somewhat obsolete.

The error only appeared initially after inclusion of the Distro (ISO) in Boxes. Then the errors remained with each opening and finishing. gnome-boxes did not come installed with Gnome 42 and I had to install it through yay S-gnome-boxes and from what I could verify the installation comes through flatpak.
