After cloning the EOS system disk (dual boot) to an SSD, I reinstalled the system without formatting. After launching the package updates, it failed due to many duplicate entries. How can this be eliminated in one step without the need for a clean installation?
Why would you do this?
The duplicate entries are in /var/lib/pacman/local
. You can manually delete the duplicate entries or write a script to do it for you.
People have written scripts in the past that can be easily found via an internet search but I haven’t tested any of them personally and they may need tweaking as they could be out of date.
I did a manual installation, I didn’t accidentally check formatting the partition.
This is good news. Of course the best is always a clean installation.
