The ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 I recently got has 16GB RAM soldered with a free slot to add more. According to CPU-X, this is the soldered RAM…
I found an eBay listing that says “16GB Memory for Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 1”.
I figured I’d check with those of you who have experience with such things before pulling the trigger. Will this RAM stick work as stated by the seller (99.8% positive rating)? I’ll get dual channel RAM performance?
Same size, same speed rating, that should be enough to trigger dual channel.
PS: It’s a pity the Lenovo started to solder the base RAM and only offer one upgradable dram slot.
I agree. But at least in this particular model, the soldered RAM is 16GB allowing for a respectable 32GB total.
That’s a solid upgrade. The other point is that one could easily take a look at the existing module - and most of the time sticker - and see “oh, this manufacturer and that module, let me get a matching one”.
I suppose I probably couldn’t go wrong with this?
Manufactured by Lenovo,
Lenovo 4X70Z90847 16GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 SODIMM Memory. The eBay seller states “A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging.” And the seller has a 100% rating with 5.4 thousand items sold.
For Ebay it’s all seller rating to me. 98% is where I draw the line.
You are in the right place at the right time for that memory.
When those circumstances present themselves I immediately buy
That (assuming you caught it) should leave you sitting in a pretty sweet spot (I have had 32 on the last two machines and been quite happy with it).
