Just updated to the new 5.5.1 kernel on EndeavourOS and on another Arch system without any issues with Broadcom or Nvidia or anything else.

Great news. Making a new “test” ISO with linux kernel 5.5.1… In order to play with it.

My laptop has 5.5.1 from the testing repo, and now wifi is no more working with that kernel.
Fortunately wifi works with the LTS kernel.

No problems with wireless on my business laptop, only use a wired connection for the home desktop.

Is it Intel? :wink:

Yes, AC 3168.

Zero wifi problems with 5.5 kernel update with these wireless cards.

Realtek RTL8188EE Wireless Network Adapter
driver: rtl8188ee

Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM43142 802.11b/g/n
driver: wl

Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet
driver: r8169

Yes, the same here on my Asrock deskmini A300M - no wifi with kernel 5.5.1. It’s a bug and I’ll have to wait for an upgrade.

@davidw
Can you use/install the LTS kernel?

Updated kernel 5.5.1 this afternoon. And for the moment everything seems to work fine. I have not detected any problems.

Same here, no problems since update tonight. But i’m using only wired connections from my computer.

Just updated this afternoon to 5.5.1, and no issues with my wifi:

Have the same card on my ThinkPad T440p.
Fingers crossed, hope that updates will just leave everything better than before.

Asrock A300M I do not see that it brings Ethernet port, or if it brings it. ???

If the answer is no, you could download the kernel-LTS to a USB pendrive and install it with sudo pacman -U …
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/linux-lts/

It has an ethernet port, you can have a look here: https://www.asrock.com/nettop/photo/DeskMini%20A300%20Series(L5).png

@davidw

ok, better yet, get an RJ 45 ETHERNET cable and connect it, if you can and is close, to the modem or router and thus achieve internet.

Another possibility:

If you have a smartphone, USB tie it up and use it for your Internet connection. It will appear as a wired network in EOS, all you need to do is run dhcpcd .
The phone will share whatever wireless connection you are using; whether it is WiFi or cellular data.

Updated just now. linux-zen 5.5.1 linux 5.5.1 both work fine so far on mate. Sorry I don’t use wifi.

Great, I just saw the 5.5.1 Kernel, this setup with NVidia is solid !

I know…isn’t it awesome!

I think you are not alone with the wifi issue on the Intel 3168 !
